We are looking to recruit Healthcare Assistants for our In-Patient Unit at the Selby War Memorial Hospital, which is part of the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Selby In-Patient unit provides 24 hour care for patients in the surrounding area; providing rehabilitation and palliative/end of life care, as well as discharge planning.
The unit embraces multi-disciplinary team working optimising outcomes for patients. We work on the home first principle, and SAFER is embedded within the unit.
This post requires motivation, enthusiasm, excellent communication skills and a caring nature. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to further their own professional development. They must be flexible, approachable, compassionate, motivated, hard-working and be able to manage their time effectively.

Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Support Worker at York Hospital, you will be part of a multi-professional team providing high standards of care to our patients. You will maintain and promote patient independence and dignity to ensure each patient receives a positive experience. As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will be expected to work a combination of shifts including nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays:
Early - 07:00-15:00
Late - 12:00 - 20:00
Night - 19:30 - 07:30
You must be able to commit to our Full Time HCSW Academy for the first 4 weeks of your employment with our Trust. Please note our HCSW Academy takes place at our training site in Holgate, York. We are unable to provide travel options or reimburse travel costs for attendance at this.
