About Us
We’re Heriot-Watt University Student Union, an independent charity buzzing with energy, driven by and for our students. We’re all about doing good, that’s why all surplus funds generated through Liberty’s Cafe, Geordies Bar and the Student Union Shop are channelled straight back into crucial student support services like our Advice Hub. So, yes, we're a charity, but we also mean business.
Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
At HWSU, diversity isn’t just celebrated; it’s our strength. We thrive by bringing together voices from all walks of life, and we’re excited for you to help us champion this mission.
Role Overview
Ready to transform data into meaningful insights? As a Power BI Project Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in helping the Union visualise data so we can understand and respond to student feedback. You’ll take the lead on designing and building an engaging Power BI dashboard to illustrate results from our Big 6 surveys across our Scottish and Dubai campuses. This isn’t just about charts and graphs; it’s about turning raw data into a story that drives change.
What You’ll Do
1. Data Wizardry: Organise and clean questionnaire data to make sure it's ready for meaningful analysis.
2. Dashboard Design: Create a visually appealing and user-friendly Power BI dashboard that compares, contrasts, and highlights trends across and between campuses.
3. Collaboration: Work closely with campus teams and stakeholders to make sure the dashboard meets their needs and expectations.
4. Training & Handover: Share your knowledge by documenting processes and, if needed, teaching others how to update and use the dashboard.
Your Superpowers
1. Tech Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Power BI, with the ability to design, build, and optimise dashboards.
2. Organised & Detail-Oriented: You’re great at managing your time and ensuring no detail gets overlooked.
3. Self-Starter: You take initiative, work independently, and aren’t afraid to ask questions when you need to.
Why Join Us
1. Gain hands-on experience in data visualisation and analysis, a skill that’s highly sought after in every industry.
2. Make a meaningful impact by contributing to how the Union understands and responds to student feedback.
3. Work with a passionate and supportive team that values your input and creativity.
4. Build a portfolio-worthy project that demonstrates your technical and creative skills!
If you’re ready to transform data into action and help shape the future of the student experience at Heriot-Watt Student, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and be a part of making a difference!
