Job Description
This role is to provide additional support to the existing Fire and Security team with an emphasis on Fire Alarm and Smoke Control system servicing and maintenance. East West Maintenance provides Building Services Maintenance (Reactive, Planned Preventative, and Small Works) across the spectrum of HVAC, Gas Safety, Fire and Security, and Electrical Compliance on both domestic and commercial levels. We are looking to add to our existing team to facilitate our continued growth by exploring new opportunities both within our existing customer portfolio and in the open market.
A successful candidate for this position will be expected to have previous knowledge and experience (to facilitate the delivery of) the following:
Scope
1. Servicing and maintaining fire alarm and smoke control systems in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and approved codes of practice.
2. Undertaking remedial works on both fire and smoke control systems.
3. Understanding of interrogating cause and effects and ensuring the systems and associated components achieve the design requirements.
4. Ability to ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with service level agreements, employer requirements, and expectations in a timely manner with client sign-off (where applicable) and all necessary photographic recording performed as required.
5. Maintaining logs, and records and providing works progress via computer-assisted management tools such as Job Logic.
6. Hold a full driving licence with eligibility to drive in the UK.
Knowledge
1. Extensive knowledge of working with a variety of Fire Alarm Systems including addressable and conventional systems such as Apollo, Advanced, Kentec, Morley, Gent, EMS.
2. Extensive knowledge of working with a variety of Smoke Control Systems including addressable and conventional systems such as Easi-Vent and SE Controls.
3. Good understanding of relevant approved codes of practice (ACOPS) and British Standards and their practical application.
4. Knowledge of Fire Safety Regulations, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, Building Safety Act and Approved Documents and their practical application.
5. Knowledge of the current legislation and good practice across the industry and identification of any areas where additional or updated training would be beneficial.
6. Understanding of the H&S at works act, current H&S legislation applicable to construction and the project involved with.
Skills and Qualifications
1. FIA Qualifications modules 1-6.
2. Certificate in IET Wiring Regulations BS7671 (As amended to latest revision).
3. ECS or CSCS Health and Safety Qualification with accompanying trade card.
4. Competent in the use of software programs such as Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word and Computer Assisted Facilities Management (CAFM) tool.
5. Presentation and communication, in particular able in the use of the English language for verbal and written communication.
6. A developed ability to assess site conditions and identifying fire risk from a physical inspection and interpretation of intrusive surveys and non-intrusive surveys.
Duties
1. To carry out all fire alarm and smoke control reactive or planned preventive maintenance jobs as needed.
2. To assist in the office where required.
3. Find the best engineering solution to allow maximum benefit to the project within the remits of the specification and standards.
4. To participate in the provision of out of hours emergency call-out service.
5. To attend appraisal meetings as required.
6. To attend company staff meetings.
7. To attend company H&S meetings.
8. To attend team meetings.
