About the Role We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic teacher to lead a small KS1 class, tailoring lessons to meet the unique needs of each pupil. In this role, you’ll work closely with other professionals, including therapists and teaching assistants, to create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that encourages both personal and academic growth. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of KS1 pupils with SEN. Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCo, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment to encourage confidence, independence, and learning. Employ diverse teaching strategies and resources to address a range of learning styles and abilities. Regularly assess and track student progress, adapting approaches to optimize their achievements. Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other support staff to provide comprehensive learning experiences. Build and maintain strong relationships with parents and carers, ensuring clear communication about each child’s progress and well-being. Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development opportunities, and staff training to remain updated on SEN best practices. Contribute to the school’s positive and inclusive ethos, supporting its commitment to excellence and innovation in SEN education. Essential Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification. Proven experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a specialist or inclusive setting. Solid understanding of SEN teaching strategies, including behaviour management and inclusive learning approaches. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. A patient, empathetic, and creative approach to teaching that motivates and inspires young learners. Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for SEN education.
