The team…
Our award-winning Domestic Abuse Team provides practical and emotional support to empower those affected by domestic abuse to make informed choices and promote strategies that manage risk. Team members work directly with adults, young people, and children impacted by domestic abuse and offer a Behaviour Change Programme to address abusive behaviour.
About the role…
We are looking to recruit a full-time Domestic Abuse Assistant to join the Domestic Abuse Team on a temporary maternity cover contract.
The role involves making contact and engaging with victims of domestic abuse and their families, providing initial advice, contributing to the delivery of domestic abuse programmes, and supporting the co-ordination of services to perpetrators of domestic abuse.
Requirements:
1. The successful applicant will have knowledge of the impact of domestic abuse on victims and children.
2. An understanding of child protection procedures, issues, and legal responsibilities.
3. Good understanding of the legislative framework in relation to domestic abuse (Civil and Criminal).
4. Understanding of child development, the principles of risk assessment, and safety planning.
5. Understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities in practice.
6. An ability to maintain professional boundaries.
7. Experience of working with vulnerable people and victims of domestic abuse and their families.
8. Experience working within a multi-agency partnership and directly with children.
9. Good written and verbal communication skills.
10. Good organisational skills and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
11. You will hold a relevant professional qualification or have demonstrable experience and have the willingness to undertake specialist Domestic Abuse training.
