Job overview
* Assist the professional nursing team in providing the highest standard of care for critically ill patients
* Carry out assigned duties to maintain order and hygiene in the unit environment
* Carry out assigned duties to maintain levels of supplies and routine equipment maintenance for the unit
Main duties of the job
* Assist with admission and discharge of patients
* Assist with the routine personal care as directed
* Prioritise with provision of diet and fluids for patients
* Assist with the moving and handling of critically ill patients
* Support patients using reassurance, tact and empathy
* Report any concerns in patients' condition to Registered nurse
* Maintain levels of supplies on the unit
* Routine cleanliness of equipment and maintenance
* Carry out quality control checks and routine maintenance of equipment
* Participate in appraisals, unit meetings, and trust communications
* Maintain a safe environment, identifying potential hazards
* Ensure all equipment is used and maintained and arrange equipment repairs
* Report all incidents as per trust policy
* Comply with safe operating procedures

Experience
* Previous experience in a healthcare customer service setting
* Previous HCA experience in an acute setting
Qualifications
* Healthcare related qualifications
* Evidence of numeracy and literacy skills e.g. GCSE Maths and English
* Equivalent level in customer service setting
