You must also have a full UK driving licence.
Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with 1 hour for lunch – this is a full-time office-based position.
Our client’s business operates in various functionalities as part of its group of companies and is proud to be a leading distributor of sealing solutions to varied sectors. They also manufacture gaskets and plastic packaging and sell corporate clothing. The business forms part of a privately owned group of companies that has been established for almost 160 years! They have an excellent reputation within the industry and the company has a real ‘family’ feel about it; everyone is there to help each other wherever possible, no one is ‘just a number’ and each member of staff has an integral role within the business. They are based in Barnsley, located close to both Rotherham and Doncaster and just a 10-minute car journey from Junction 36 of the M1 for Sheffield and Wakefield commuters too.
Role Overview:
We are looking for someone who will not only possess the right personal qualities to join our client’s well-established team but also someone who has experience in a similar role. You will be focusing on supply-chain management, building positive relationships with all suppliers, negotiating new contracts and managing imports.
Duties of the Senior Buyer:
1. Attending supplier review meetings via Microsoft Teams
2. Carrying out supplier visits and ensuring positive relationships are being built upon – you will have use of the company pool car
3. Being actively involved in the Continual Improvement Programme
4. Negotiating new contracts and price increases
5. Implementing supplier rebate agreements
6. Managing departmental KPIs and reporting directly to the MD
7. Dealing with far-East and European shipping and delivery schedules
8. Maintaining stock levels
9. Creating the daily stock shortage report
10. Processing Purchase Orders
11. Managing order confirmations
12. Updating Purchase Order dates on the in-house system
13. Checking delivery supplier notes and matching to invoices
14. Managing supplier order books
15. Dealing with purchase order and invoice queries
16. Managing unconfirmed/late orders and overseeing supplier on-time delivery
17. Sending supplier requests for quotations
18. Managing key supplier consignment stock
19. Looking at new suppliers and undertaking re-sourcing projects
20. Working on cost-down initiatives
21. Managing imports and freight companies
To fulfil the role of Senior Buyer you must:
1. Have experience in procurement and supply chain, ideally from the manufacturing or engineering sectors
2. Be confident and enjoy dealing with suppliers over the phone
3. Have strong relationship building skills
4. Have good attention to detail
5. Have experience in using procurement systems
Additional attributes which would be advantageous to fulfil the role of Senior Buyer:
1. Ideally CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) trained
2. Wide-ranging international procurement experience in particular with the Far-East including dealing with freight companies
3. A good understanding of incoterms
4. Ideally experienced in reading and understanding drawings
