Guildford and Waverley Councils are working in collaboration to provide better sustainable local services and protect them for the future. At the heart of our shared values are collaboration, value for money and professionalism. One of the key priorities of both corporate strategies is a resilient and well managed council. Central to achieving this is effective governance across both councils to ensure decisions are made at the right level, with clear accountabilities and responsibilities. That is why we are creating a new shared governance team, to build on work we’ve already started to ensure best practice governance processes and procedures are at the heart of what we do. In this role, you will be the most senior governance advisor and you will lead the new team, ensuring that high quality advice is provided across the Council. You will have a proven track record of delivering good governance in a complex public sector environment and an excellent knowledge of Local Government legislation, constitutional decision making, and governance frameworks. You will also be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills and political awareness. This is an exciting time to join us and make a difference across both councils. This post is a full-time role, however all applications will be considered. It is a hybrid role with a combination of homeworking and working at both council offices. This post is politically restricted.
