We have an exciting opportunity for a Respiratory Consultant to join The Directorate of Respiratory Medicine at The James Cook University Hospital.
We are looking for a Consultant with Specialist Registration in Respiratory medicine, who can evidence sound diagnostic and therapeutic skills in fibre-optic bronchoscopy and lung function testing including EBUS, has experience in managing patients with complex pleural effusion, including performing talc pleurodesis and insertion/removal of the IPC, and is competent in the management of respiratory and general medical conditions with experience in managing rapid access lung cancer clinics and lung MDT membership in the UK.
Main duties of the job
The James Cook service includes a 35 bedded inpatient ward incorporating an 8 bedded Respiratory Support Unit for non-invasive ventilation; a Lung Cancer Nursing Team; TB Nursing Team; COPD Outreach Service, COVID-19 virtual ward service, domiciliary NIV and a Specialist Respiratory Physiology Laboratory.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full registration with GMC. Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of expected date of CCT.
Clinical Specialty Skills
* Completion of a recognised training programme in respiratory and general medicine.
* Sound diagnostic and therapeutic skills, particularly competent in fibre-optic bronchoscopy and lung function testing.
* Competent in the management of respiratory and general medical conditions with experience in managing rapid access lung cancer clinics in the UK and experience of lung MDT membership.
* Experience in a full range of bronchoscopy procedures and EBUS.
* Experience in managing patients with complex pleural effusion, including performing talc pleurodesis and insertion/removal of the IPC.
* Attendance at and participation in international meetings.
* Multidisciplinary approach to lung cancer management.
* Experience in performing endobronchial interventions, such as argon plasma coagulation, electrocautery snaring and stent insertion.
Skills, knowledge and aptitude
* Evidence of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Ability to organise and prioritise complex demands.
* Evidence of teaching and training skills for resident doctors.
* Management training.
