Main Duties of the Job
1. Prioritise daily activities to respond to changing circumstances, providing a seamless service to users.
2. Develop work plans and allocate work, consistent with departmental objectives, ensuring these are realistic and achievable, taking into account multidisciplinary team members' abilities and developmental needs.
3. Contribute to recruitment and retention using agreed methods and protocols for staffing and skill mix.
4. Objectively assess the work of multidisciplinary team members, providing clear constructive feedback in a manner most likely to improve/maintain performance.
5. Contribute to the ongoing audit cycle to identify issues which arise during the perioperative phase. Participate in effective implementation of measures to combat these issues.
6. Participate in direct care needs of the patient, providing expert knowledge of clinical specialities and act as a role model.
7. Monitor the standards of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
8. Be proactive with audit and monitoring of documentation to ensure that it is produced in accordance with Trust policy and also NMC/HCPC guidelines.
Job Responsibilities
1. To provide patient care within the perioperative environment and act as a skilled member of the multidisciplinary team.
2. To assess care needs, develop programmes of care and implement and evaluate these programmes of care, carrying out all relevant forms of peri-operative patient care without direct supervision over a 24 hour period, caring for both adult and paediatric patients undergoing routine and emergency surgery.

* Existing experience as a scrub practitioner.
* Experience leading a team.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner.
* Experience as a Registered Nurse / ODP within the Operating Theatre.
* Teaching and assessing qualification or willingness to work towards.
* Diploma or degree or willingness to work towards or relevant practical experience within the department specialities.
* Leadership qualification.
Statutory Registration
* Registered with NMC or HCPC.
