Background:
Malvern Optical is a research and development provider primarily in the electro-optic and electro-magnetic (radio-frequency) systems domains. In addition, the Company provides electro-magnetic measurement services and electro-optical materials assessment and evaluation both at laboratory and platform level. We also provide independent technical advice within these areas to a number of customers.
As we continue to expand the business with more projects commencing throughout 2025 and beyond, we have a great opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join the team working across multiple client projects.
Job Description:
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the successful through-life delivery of all projects to the appropriate time, cost and quality criteria.
The successful applicant will become part of a small team of experienced project managers, scientists and engineers carrying out research and test and assessment activities, primarily in the Defence sector. The main duties will include leading multi-disciplined project teams, stakeholder management, customer liaison, supporting internal processes and delivery responsibility including financial management, risk management and resources.
From the beginning you will be responsible for driving forward existing portfolio of projects, as well as scoping new projects and providing support to winning new business. While the primary focus will be working on the company’s Electro-Optical Sensor activities, there will be opportunities to work in other areas. The successful candidate is likely to have a technical and/or business background and have a good understanding of working within multi-disciplinary projects. Previous experience of working in the Defence sector would be advantageous, but not essential, as well as at least 5 years’ experience of project delivery, is highly desirable.
Whilst the role is based near Pershore, the post will require the successful candidate to be willing to undertake occasional travel within the UK or abroad, in support of project or business activities and to occasionally work outside of normal working hours.
