About the job:
Are you a skilled and enthusiastic Maintenance Fitter with a passion for keeping essential systems running smoothly? We are looking for a dedicated Maintenance Fitter to join our team of everyday heroes in Christchurch.
In this crucial role, you will be at the forefront of maintaining and repairing our pumps and storage facilities, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our operations across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula.
Day to day you will:
* Perform routine and emergency maintenance on pumps, storage facilities, and related equipment.
* Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
* Carry out installations, upgrades, and calibrations of mechanical systems and components.
* Collaborate with other team members and departments to coordinate maintenance activities and enhance operational efficiency.
* Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities and equipment status.
* Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
What you’ll need:
* Mechanical engineering level 4 or equivalent, class 1 full driver’s license is a must!
* Proven experience in a Maintenance Fitter role, ideally within the water or wastewater sector.
* Strong mechanical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Flexibility to work on-call and outside of regular hours as required.
All preferred candidates will be required to complete preemployment checks to the employer’s satisfaction. These checks include but are not limited to, ministry of Justice criminal conviction report, medical assessment, and drug and alcohol testing.
