Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director of Nursing in maintaining high standards of patient care and assure that all policies and procedures, state regulations and guidelines are practiced and adhered to in a timely manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Monitor and direct medical care and assistance to all residents in the healthcare facility. Responsible for Quality Management monitoring. Attend mandatory in services and other required staff meetings. Responsible for addressing family, resident and employee concerns. Ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with government regulatory policies and procedures. Act as interim DON as assigned. Assist in coordinating resident appointments/transportation needs. Responsible for "nurse-on-Call" duty when necessary. Routine rounds of the facility as designated. Coordinate and comply with staff-related training and immunization requirements. Review staff schedule to ensure scheduling requirements are met. Assist DON in the day to day operations of the healthcare facility. Must interact courteously, tactfully and politely with managers, co-workers, residents, vendors or associates to preserve productivity and moral. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly/indirectly supervises all employees in the Nursing Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associates or Bachelors degree in Nursing. Several years of experience as an Nurse Manager or ADON in skilled nursing or rehab setting is preferred. Must be currently registered as an RN with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Must be CPR certified.
