We are looking for an Engineering Project Manager to join our successful Technical Services team. This is a Home/Site Based role.
Role and Responsibilities
* Project and contract management of engineering departments delivery of low and zero carbon technologies, including Solar PV, Heat Pumps, Biomass, CHP and District Heating Systems.
* Understanding what the client or company wants to achieve.
* Agreeing timescales, costs and resources needed to deliver a project.
* Drawing up a detailed plan for how to achieve each stage of a project.
* Selecting and leading a project team.
* Negotiating with contractors and suppliers.
* Directing a multi-disciplinary team.
* Communicating with staff at every level, in a calm, personable way.
* Overseeing multiple projects at the same time.
* Ensuring that each stage of the project happens on time, on budget and to a high standard.
* Reporting regularly on progress to the client and stakeholders.
* Resolving issues and delays.
* Demonstrating knowledge of all areas of construction.
* Health and Safety management of existing and pre-commencement projects.
* Liaising with team members to develop projects and ensure successful delivery.
* Commercial management of projects.
* Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical and commercial feasibility.
* Ensuring resource/materials availability and allocation.
* Developing a detailed project plan to track progress, delivery and budget.
* Measuring project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
* Reporting and escalating to management as needed.
* Managing the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
* Performing risk management to minimize project risks.
* Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of the company, its products, and its client base to deliver projects.
* Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with customers and external partners.
* Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation.
* Using appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
* Preparing reports detailing completed and remaining works for the finance team.
Experience and Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including English and Maths at least grade C or equivalent.
* Educated to a degree level or equivalent.
* Qualifications relevant to project management (PRINCE 2, etc).
* Experience of mechanical installations or low and zero carbon heating systems (desirable).
* Experience working under JCT or NEC design and build contracts.
* Minimum 5 years project management experience.
* Ability to communicate and influence at a senior level.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Excellent standard of spoken and written English.
* Strategic thinker who can understand complex issues and come up with solutions.
