Description The Rehousing Temporary Accommodation team is responsible for the provision of temporary accommodation to households experiencing homelessness. The purpose of this role is to manage interim and temporary accommodated residents in arranging to move in and out of accommodation. This will include organising removals/storage as necessary, taking inventory, informing council tax, housing benefit and other connected agencies of the resident’s movement, managing anti-social behaviour, issuing warnings as appropriate and ending tenancies. To manage the daily operation of the Council’s temporary accommodation and provide a support service to residents in temporary accommodation. The role will involve working as a team with colleagues throughout the Housing Options Service of Cornwall Council as well as partner agencies to enable intervention in a range of housing related issues, taking a multi-disciplinary approach to tenancy sustainment involving other service providers as appropriate. To provide a high quality, efficient, and effective service to clients who require temporary accommodation. Contributing to negotiations with providers in relation to costs and securing reduced rates where possible. You will work throughout Cornwall, but specialise in a selected area within this. You will be responsible for the properties within this area. you will be working with individuals and families and be the first point of call for problems and issues within their accommodation, along with the wider local community. Its a flexible role, but there are times when you need to change your plans at short notice to resolve a problem. Sometimes there are times when you have to start early or finish late to accommodate the needs of the role. You should have up to date knowledge of housing legislation, especially around starting and ending tenancies. Be able to build relationships with clients and other organisations that play a key role in the families wellbeing. Ideally you should have knowledge of housing compliance and safety regulations. An essential part of the role is travelling around Cornwall, so its essential you can drive and travel around the County. Being out and about in all weathers can be challenging so a positive attitude is key.
