We are looking for a Boilerplant Attendant to join the Boiler Plant team at our Rotherham site. The Boiler Attendant is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring, operation and first line maintenance of the Boiler Plant that provides essential services to the steel production plant.

The Role of a Boilerplant Attendant
9. The Boilerplant is operational 7 days a week / 24 hrs a day and days per year therefore team members are required to work weekends and Bank holidays to ensure full cover is maintained.
10. Team members currently work a 12-hour shift rota averaging 40hrs / week.
11. The manufacturing plant includes the generation and conveying of steam and associated water treatment and gas storage facilities.
12. The Boilerplant Attendant will closely with the Works Services Fitters and and Liaison with Section Engineers to carry out repairs and improvement work.
13. The job holder will be required to supervise deliveries of Boiler Plant chemicals, and other commodities ensuring delivery procedures are adhered to.
14. The jobholder will supervise & monitor the activities of specialist Contractors and others, ensuring they are working safely and to programme, as well as performing the necessary plant isolations and issue of Permits to Work.
15. Boilerplant Attendants are required to provide routine maintenance and first line breakdown repairs, including basic mechanical and pipefitting repairs, modification and improvements.
16. Boilerplant Attendants need to be in continuous contact with Production units to ensure steam is generated to match demand for a number of batch processes and that steam plant is available as required.
Requirements of the Boilerplant Attendant
17. They must be self-motivated as they are required to work unsupervised and are responsible for determining priority's and to ensure continuity of services.
18. They are required to monitor alarms from outside plant and utilities and take appropriate action.
19. They are required to work flexibly and apply urgency, reason and logic to breakdowns and incidents that occur.
20. The jobholder requires a good understanding of the operation of boilers and water plant. Ideally the jobholder will have achieved the Boiler Operation Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) / Certified Industrial Boiler Operator (CertIBO) qualification.
21. The attendant must be familiar with basic computer applications for which training will be provided.

22. This role is 6am-6pm 12 hour days.
