Our team in Leeds currently has an opening for a Asset & Engineering Manager.
Purpose of Position:
Working with key stakeholders, support delivery of the business key objectives of Health & Safety and Service Excellence, specifically through execution of the group maintenance strategy for equipment, buildings and plant to ensure alignment with business objectives relating to sustainability, asset integrity, productivity and effectiveness.
Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:
1. Develop and implement the maintenance strategy, aligned with the organisations AIPSM policy and procedures.
2. Drive culture and standards to improve safe availability of equipment through a principle of Safety First whilst maintaining HSEQ and engineering standards to deliver improved asset integrity and increased equipment reliability.
3. Create a high performance culture with the site engineering teams where team members are motivated and engaged, with key deliverables and development goals to grow their capability and competency.
4. Develop a highly engaged regional workforce through effective leadership of teams and individuals.
5. Manage improvements to the maintenance programmes on operational facilities through the team of multidisciplinary staff and technicians.
6. Produce and ensure adherence to specification and safety standards for engineering equipment and contracted engineering work together with the site operations teams and Central Process Engineering function.
7. Work with all stakeholders to prioritise the allocation of engineering resources within the region.
8. Support the regional supervisory team with key technical knowledge during planned maintenance activities, planned plant inspections and breakdowns.
9. Support the Process Engineering Manager and regional teams with delivery of the groups Capital expenditure programme.
10. Embed the Brenntag Sustainability Roadmap into team culture and contribute towards the goal of zero carbon footprint.
11. Support preparation and delivery of the Central Engineering Team budget ensuring that all planned spend is correctly costed and in line with budget.
12. Identify and procure spare parts as required to ensure the engineering budget is adhered to, adapting a challenging outlook on all costs incurred to drive down cost and aid the department in delivering more for less.
13. Responsible for maintenance and engineering performance – monitored through applicable KPIs as to asset integrity/reliability and budget delivery.
Experience / Knowledge:
1. Chemical industry background on a COMAH facility - Preferred.
2. Experience in working in a Safety Driven environment – Essential.
3. Knowledge of current Health, Safety, Environmental and Employment legislation. Experience in deploying group wide / multi-site maintenance strategies including maintenance reporting systems and CMMS. Note Brenntag utilise Shire Pirhana.
4. An outstanding operational leader who meets challenge with a pragmatic and resilient approach. Has strong influencing and engagement skills demonstrated through values based leadership and role modelling positive leadership behaviours.
5. A natural coach and team builder with exceptional interpersonal skills who enjoys developing and leading others to improve their performance.
6. Financially competent, able to construct and manage budgets and develop capital expenditure plans.
7. Able to use IT systems effectively.
8. Demonstrable experience of the planning and management of engineering projects.
9. Highly developed literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
10. Experience or knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and CI tools and techniques such as Six Sigma, 5S etc would be advantageous.
