Job summary Applications are invited from suitably qualified Consultant Paediatricians (or those with equivalent experience and qualifications) for the part time post (2PA per week) of Designated Doctor, Peninsula Child Death Overview. This role is part of the Child Death Review function that is statutory across England as required by Chapter 5 of Working Together to Safeguard Children (2015). Main duties of the job Providing specialist paediatric advice to the Chair of the Child Death Overview Panel and joint agency response nurse practitioners. The SW Peninsula has one Overview Panel covering Devon, Cornwall, Plymouth and Torbay. The Designated Doctor is responsible for: Providing specialist paediatric advice to the Chair of the Overview Panel and multi-agency response practitioners. Liaising with the Panel Coordinator and Chair for the collation and analysis of data Monitoring the actions and recommendations arising from CDOP. Providing advice to the Trust Named Doctors and be responsible for Peninsula named doctors network meetings. Providing Clinical Supervision for the Specialist Joint Agency response Nurses. Most of the preparatory documentation will have been completed by the CDOP administrative office but it is anticipated that, prior to each meeting of the child Death Overview Panel, one PA of professional time will be required for review of documentation. Applicants should at minimum: Hold senior Paediatric Consultant status or equivalent Be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of Child Death Review and Child Safeguarding procedures.
