Our primary operations involve warehousing and distribution from our ten sites across the UK, which feature two catering butchery facilities. We are seeking a Quality, Health and Safety Manager to ensure excellence in quality, safety, health, and environmental matters at all Holdsworth Foods locations. This crucial role involves creating a strong QHSE Strategy. Reporting to the Compliance Director, you will serve as the guardian of compliance in Food Safety, Quality, and Safety & Health, ensuring adherence to all relevant legislation. You will be the face of Safety within the organization, promoting safe practices throughout the business. Additionally, you will lead and develop a team of two. The position involves collaborating with current management systems across various locations. Responsibilities will include conducting multi-site inspections and Health and Safety audits, monitoring activities, and investigating incidents. The candidate is expected to stay informed about existing and new regulations and legislation. Additionally, the role encompasses personal development to enhance the candidate's skills and knowledge, ultimately contributing to the department's goals in implementing best practices across all Holdsworth Foods site s. The position requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, from Monday to Friday, and offers the possibility of hybrid working arrangements. Regular travel may be necessary as part of the role. Health and Safety Du tiesTo gather and maintain data on health, safety and wellbeing functions and performance across the busin ess.Produce and distribute management reports on near misses, accidents, days lost and where appropriate remedial action to be ta ken.Undertake site inspections and H&S aud its.Advise, manage and coordinate on health and safety matters e.g. fire regulations, noise, working environment and machin ery.Attend relevant industry specific seminars and legislation update eve nts.Assist with and review risk assessments with the appropriate managers. Identify potential hazards and determine ways of reducing ri sks.To identify relevant training needs and assist to schedule and facilitate train ing.Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and report to department h ead.Investigate any health and safety issues raised by management or employ ees.Identify, write and review requirements for Safe Systems of W ork.Complete, and review the COSHH assessment proc ess.Review and monitor existing polic ies.Enforcement of site ru les.Assist to maintain various documentation in regards to health, safety and compliance across the busin ess.Provide support on environmental matters for the business as requi red. Quality d utiesBe responsible for maintaining, reviewing and managing the Company's Integrated Quality Management System and ensure there is an effective quality assurance system in p lace.To ensure all site hygiene standards comply with our procedures and policies as well as regulatory requirem ents.Carry out process and hygiene audits from procurement through production to distribution for our butchery manufacturing s ites.To ensure all products comply with the required standards of food safety, legality, and product quality and to foster and promote a culture of continuous improve ment.Keep up to date with all legal legislation and industry best prac tice.Lead internal and external audits (such as STS, ISO, FSA and customer audits). Ensuring that any non-conformances or improvements are implemented in a timely ma nner.Develop and maintain a robust auditing programme that continues to meet the requirements of the company’s accreditat ions.Oversee customer quality complaints and work collaboratively with either our suppliers or our manufacturing and distribution sites to ensure all complaints are thoroughly investigated and closed out with meaningful solut ions. Essential C riteriaQualified to degree level in a relevant s ubject.Minimum of two years in a QHS/E Managemen t role.Level 3 Award or equivalent in Food Safety and HACCP for Food Manufac turing.Relevant qualification in Health and Safety, such as IOSH, NEBOSH, or an equivalent NVQ Level 6/7 safety-related qualif icationExperience of auditing quality management s ystems.Proactive, effective, and motivated team player who can demonstrate a strong capability of engaging with the workforce and be able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in w riting.Calm and works well under pressure in tight deadline situations, displaying exceptional organisational skills. Must possess strong IT skills.Must be able to demonstrate a keen interest in continually improving our Health, Safety and Quality perfo rmance.Must hold a current valid driving license and be willing to travel as there is a requirement to support all of our multi-site operations. Candidate must be willing to have an occasional overnight stay away fro m home.
