Role Overview:
The Head of Design will lead the development and execution of design strategies that elevate our client’s brands across all touchpoints. They are responsible for all brand design, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) expertise to ensure cohesive, research-led, and strategy-driven outcomes.
The successful candidate will guide the creation of brand strategy research and development, the creation of compelling brand identities, intuitive digital experiences, and campaign deliverables aligned with overarching business objectives.
Responsibilities:
1. Build and lead all brand and creative output at agency level
2. Oversee the creation and execution of brand strategy, positioning and creative platforms for our clients
3. Build and maintain a creative environment for the creative team to deliver their best work.
4. Ensure the quality of all design output meets or exceeds client expectations. Oversee, refine and approve design output as required.
5. Take responsibility for the creative philosophy and the standard of creative output across the agency
6. Lead the creation and development of ideas and concepts for campaigns as required
7. Take a leading role in pitching and winning work
8. Take a leading role in thought leadership and marketing contributions
9. Oversee the commercial performance of the department, managing budgets and KPIs in collaboration with the Operations Director
10. Hire, manage and develop the design team
11. Lead innovation and continuous improvement of design and creative processes, products and services.
12. Ensure and oversee efficient planning of all projects from project managers
13. Develop and manage key client relationships
Communication & Collaboration:
1. Foster open communication and teamwork across departments
2. Engage in regular check-ins and updates with team members, ensuring alignment on project goals and timelines
3. Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring satisfaction and clarity on project deliverables
Management:
1. Oversee the work of team members, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback
2. Ensure that all projects are delivered on time and within scope
3. Develop and implement team strategies that support both client objectives and agency goals
4. Manage the allocation of resources to optimise productivity
Product Development & Innovation:
1. Contribute to the development of new digital products and services.
2. Bring innovative ideas to enhance current offerings, ensuring they align with market trends and client needs.
3. Work closely with the product development team to ensure seamless integration of new tools and processes.
Requirements:
1. A robust sense of humour
2. 10 years experience in hands-on professional brand and design environment
3. Proven experience developing brand and creative strategies for clients
4. 5 years experience in agency environment
5. Strong leadership skills, particularly in critical design review
6. Strong communication and collaboration skills
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
8. Understanding of digital marketing trends and best practices
