About the Employer
I live at home with my mum, Leanne, dad, Darren and younger sister. I have a dog called Toto; I love to cuddle and play with him. I am passionate about arts and crafts. I am very creative. I also enjoy facecare products, baking, gymnastics, trampolining, climbing and watching shows like Stranger Things and Britain’s Got Talent. I was unable to attend school for quite some time, due to my complex needs; however, I have now started school and attend every day. I am so much happier now that I am back in education. I have a diagnosis of autism. For the past year and half, I have been struggling with emotional regulation. I can become very distressed and sometimes it isn’t clear as to why. I struggle to communicate through words, but I am getting better at this due to support from school. You will notice my distress through my behaviours. It helps when people stay with me, at a safe distance, if I become dysregulated. It is also important not to say anything back that may make me more distressed. If I have a regular routine and structure, with clear boundaries and an understanding of what is happening around me, I will not become dysregulated. Therefore, it is important to be reliable and punctual. When I am feeling calm, I have a great sense of humour, lots of energy and you will have a fun time supporting me. I love to make friends with other young people, and just want to feel like I belong. Helping me to access the youth centre, will improve my life more than you know.
I am looking for someone who is honest, reliable, punctual, non-judgemental, empathetic, keen to build good relationships based on trust and respect, flexible, adaptable, positive, able to respond to challenging behaviours calmly and rationally, positive, understands vulnerabilities associated with disabilities such as autism, has a good sense of humour, a willingness to travel and is confident in their ability to keep my daughter safe. I am looking for someone who possesses an understanding of autism and is willing to take on board person-centred strategies to support my daughter thrive within the community. My daughter can also present with tics when stressed or anxious and therefore will need to be supported, should anyone draw attention to this.
