In addition, with City of Portsmouth College committed to embedding sustainability as a core value throughout its operations and its transition toward net zero, the post holder shall work closely with the Head of Estates and Facilities on the delivery of its sustainability strategy as the college traverses its carbon reduction journey. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the day-to-day operational management of Caretaking and Cleaning standards across all campuses To line manage the Site and Cleaning supervisor and any skilled members of the tea, i.e. electrician/plumbers etc. Have a good understanding of financial and procurement operations including management of contractors Manage Site supervisors ensuring departmental budget expenditure is monitored and controlled with college financial policies and procedures Leadi the Site Supervisors to provide general administrative support and management of any estates data bases and SharePoint data Deliver the line manager element of inductions and where appropriate any role specific training Create a method for the regularly monitoring the condition of the premises, and ensure defects are rectified Implement the planned and unplanned maintenance programmes, including preparing specifications, schedules of work, placing orders with maintenance contractors, monitoring contractor work, checking and authorising invoices for payment Create strategies for effective and efficient energy management, including ways to monitor energy consumption (gas and electricity) Manage arrangements for the preparation of specifications for contracted-out services and to support planned tendering exercises Assist Head of Estates and Facilities with external bookings i.e. liaising with external customers, all paperwork, co-ordination of services, raising invoices and completing information updates Responsible for the safe and efficient continuity of operation for the heating and ventilation plant and all associated equipment Responsible for all electrical and mechanical services and equipment to ensure safe and efficient continuity of use and compliance with all statutory and insurance requirements Ensure the safe operation of all college sites, particularly during contract maintenance works and building projects. Take a proactive approach to resolving potential issues and identifying areas for improvement, ensuring projects are completed in a timely manner Ensure that records and reports are maintained and updated to comply with legal requirements for statutory testing, such as local exhaust ventilation monitoring (LEV), LOLER and pressure systems To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you: 2 to 3 A Level passes or equivalent in a relevant subject Membership of a relevant professional body e.g., IWFM, IEMA Highly developed literacy and numeracy skills (Maths and English GCSE pass or equivalent) Excellent communication & interpersonal skills with an ability to deal effectively with all staff, students, and stakeholders Equivalent job role dealing with financial, administrative, and environmental functions Excellent IT skills including Microsoft packages & financial software systems Professional approach to work and appearance Commitment to personal improvement and professional development Ability to travel independently between Campuses Diversity and Inclusion: Equality, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion are central to the work of City of Portsmouth College.
