You will be working as part of a Control Account Team (CAT) or Programme team within a Delivery Business Unit (DBU), a Planner maintains the schedule(s) for the assigned work scope in line with the Submarines monthly planning cycle. Responsible for the creation and management of Control Account Schedules (CAS) that reflect the work required to deliver the customer or business requirements. Accountable for identifying and resolving issues that impact the schedule through (but not limited to) stakeholder engagement and reprogramming of the schedule. Required to interface with key stakeholders to monitor and control work throughout the project lifecycle using the integrated planning system. Provide accurate and timely management information, in accordance with RR Submarines PM processes and abiding by the schedule health rules applied by the central PMO function in order to maintain a healthy schedule. What you’ll be doing : You will work with key stakeholders in order to capture the project work scope, in line with customer requirements. This could include the development of a Product Breakdown Structure (PBS), Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Statement of Work (SOW) and Basis of Estimate (BOE). Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all planning & scheduling methodology and processes adopted within the assigned team. Provide planning process support / governance and guidance to the wider delivery team and those developing level 3 plans to support work packages. Facilitate the development and maintenance of a healthy and credible project schedule in line with the Submarines Planning & Scheduling Guidelines, ensuring that the correct activity coding and conventions are consistently applied throughout the CAS's. Ensure that all schedules are generated, maintained and updated in line with the APly planning cycle. Identify and integrate risk by developing schedules that include activities, time and resource estimates for risk mitigation as appropriate. Ensure that the CAS is fully logically linked, with horizontal integration internally and externally to the broader Programme scope, and vertical integration throughout the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). Appropriate measures of performance (e.g. tracking milestones, deliverables and interdependencies) are also to be included. Accountable for identifying schedule impact issues within the CAS and proactively pursue solutions within the baseline boundaries of quality, cost and time. Also understanding any impacts to internal and external deliverables or dependencies. Coordinate Live Progress Updates session in order to gather accurate project progress status information and update schedules (for internal scope, progress must be updated face-to-face and external scope as appropriate), reforecasting activity durations and resource as required. Accountable for inclusion, management and updating of supplier, subcontractor schedules within the CAS. Analysis and production of monthly management information or reporting in a timely manner. This includes but is not limited to milestone slippage, critical path analysis, resource demand & availability, float erosion, identification of schedule risks, issues and opportunities. Undertake schedule variance analysis to identify and report deviations, triggering exception reports as appropriate. Identification & use of Earned Value Management techniques as be required. Maintain and control the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB), including management through the change control process for the relevant CAS. Maintain and update resourced schedules (at team level), advising on resource clashes and potential issues, in order to obtain commitment from Resource Managers and suppliers for resource Load and Capacity. Act as mentor / coach for any assigned Trainee Planners. Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) and it's associated processes, with ability to interpret EVM data and reports. Working knowledge of Earned Value Techniques (EVTs) in order to enable accurate cost profiling and appropriate performance reporting. Entry level qualification (HND or Foundation Degree) desirable. Experience of developing schedules within a complex environment and using an IMS methodology. Registered as an associate member of the APM. Strong knowledge and skills of scheduling software (preferably Primavera P6) and subsequent functionality. Knowledge of SAP or equivalent Cost Management System. Experience of operating within an EVM environment and associated system or toolset. Demonstrate a positive ‘can do’ attitude to deliver promises and commitments on time and to the required standards. Adapt to changes in the working environment, managing competing demands to make the best use of time and resources. Ability to deliver accurate work within service level agreements and use initiative to work through issues and barriers.
