Flood Resilience Manager
Hello, we’re Severn Trent, officially one of the UK’s Top 50 places to work. We pride ourselves on fostering a dynamic, innovative, and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered to do right for our customers, communities, and the environment.
If you’re ready to elevate your career with a company recognised for its excellence and employee satisfaction, then this could be the opportunity for you.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Do you have the skills to lead a high-performing team and drive flood resilience initiatives? We’re looking for two dynamic Flood Resilience Managers to bridge the gap between technical solutions and community education. One role will cover the East of our region and the other will cover the West region.
As a Flood Resilience Manager, you’ll lead a team dedicated to sharing education and insights on flood resilience with communities and stakeholders. Your role will involve creating and delivering proactive plans and managing reactive communications to ensure that everyone is well-informed and prepared. Engaging with local communities to raise awareness about flood risks and preparedness will be a key part of your responsibilities, and you’ll collaborate closely with Catchment Leads, River Rangers, and our Network Protection teams to address key issues impacting flood resilience.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Liaise with Local Councils: Ensure councils are informed and involved in flooding response.
2. Collaborate with Stakeholders: Respond to queries efficiently and maintain strong relationships.
3. Community Education: Distinguish Severn Trent's role from other authorities and educate on flood resilience.
4. Proactive Engagement: Reduce follow-up attendances post-storm through proactive communication.
5. Support Community Events: Promote flood resilience strategies and reduce repeat flooding.
6. Manage Budget & Team: Train and ensure team competency in their roles.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
To be successful as our new Flood Resilience Manager, it’s expected that you’ll have:
1. Proven experience managing high-performing teams.
2. Background in the utility sector or water industry.
3. Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
4. Ability to manage challenging conversations and work in customer-facing roles.
5. Confidence to represent Severn Trent at external events.
6. Knowledge of flood risk management and resilience.
7. Full UK Driving License.
