N973 - Passenger Assistant Role Profile
Opportunities have arisen in the Transport and Allowances Team to appoint 10 part-time, term-time only Passenger Assistants. You must live within the Plymouth boundary or can transport yourself to within the City of Plymouth Boundaries for pick up.
Passenger Assistants are employed to accompany children and young people (4 – 25 years of age) who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), on their journey to and from school/college or other educational establishments. They are responsible for the health, safety, and wellbeing of the children and young people between home and school.
You will need to be able to work on your own initiative and have a genuine interest in supporting children and young people with SEND. Passenger Assistants are usually picked up and returned home by the school transport vehicle. The hours vary but will be around school/college opening and closing times, and you will therefore need to be available between approximately 7.00 am to 9.30 am and between 2.30 pm and 5.15 pm to apply for this role. You will need to be available for 10 journeys a week – that’s 5 mornings and 5 afternoons Monday – Friday.
Full training will be provided prior to commencing work.
The Disclosure & Barring Service Check requirement for this post is: DBS Children’s Barred List.
