Job Description
A leading law firm is currently recruiting for a Solicitor to join their non-contentious construction team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years' relevant experience in the non-contentious construction sector. This role offers flexibility and can be based in either the Edinburgh or Glasgow office.
\nThe team focuses on:\n\nThe construction aspects of major property developments and regeneration projects, including development agreements, building contracts, bonds, guarantees, and professional appointments.\n\nSignificant engineering projects, particularly in the energy sector, including onshore wind, hydro, battery storage, solar, tidal/wave, etc. Projects are located throughout the UK.\nClients include developers, contractors, public sector bodies, funders, and consultants.\n\nThe Role:\n\nTechnical/Legal Skills\n\nDemonstrate appropriate legal knowledge and technical expertise.\n\nProvide technical advice to colleagues.\n\nProduce effective drafts with minimal guidance.\n\nPresent legal information in an understandable format with minimal guidance.\n\nGenerate and implement new ideas in specialist areas.\nBusiness/Work Management\n\nIdentify strategies to manage work to meet objectives within agreed timescales and budgets.\n\nKeep clients and colleagues up-to-date with the latest developments.\n\nImplement improvements in working methods.\n\nPrepare for and attend meetings.\n\nMake effective use of the firm's information management systems and comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.\n\nComply with all firm policies and procedures, including financial.\n\nDemonstrate effective time management.\nBusiness Development\n\nDevelop an understanding of market forces affecting clients, identifying trends and opportunities for business development.\n\nDevelop effective solutions for clients with minimal guidance.\n\nBuild relationships with key clients and demonstrate awareness of client care issues.\n\nProvide feedback to partners/associates.\n\nAssist in assessing work scope and fees within the team.\n\nParticipate in marketing activities.\n\nDemonstrate effective presentation and writing skills.\n\nImplement cross-selling opportunities.\n\nUtilise knowledge as a marketing tool (e.g., eBulletin articles, client seminars, etc.).\nPeople Management\n\nDevelop an effective personal presence with partners and colleagues.\n\nDelegate work effectively to both fee-earning and non-fee-earning staff, including setting objectives and providing feedback.\n\nSupervise work effectively and understand team expectations for transactions.\n\nConduct well-prepared and presented training sessions.\n\nInteract positively with colleagues in other sections.\n\nDevelop leadership skills in client work and management.\nEthics, Professionalism, and Judgment\n\nRecognise ethical issues and address them with the appropriate person.\n\nApply relevant professional conduct principles and seek assistance when necessary.\n\nRespect diversity and act fairly and inclusively.\n\nAcknowledge mistakes and take appropriate action.\n\nSeek expert advice when needed and make effective use of feedback, guidance, and support.\nFirm Contribution\n\nContribute to the development of the team's operational goals.\n\nUnderstand the relationship between strategic and operational management.\n\nParticipate in extra practice events to support firm development.\n\nContribute to the firm's Knowledge Management goals.\n\nUndertake any other reasonable duties as specified by the Partners. \n\nThis is a 50% Hybrid role
