You will join us on a part-time basis working 38 weeks per year during term time. In return you will receive a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience. About the role: The Careers and World of Work team provide information, advice and guidance for students to support and empower them to achieve their career goals. Reporting to the Careers and World of Work Manager, Careers Advisors play an integral role in supporting students and prospective students to make informed decisions about their future. Based in the Student Services Hubs, you will support the team to deliver accessible, impartial CEIAG for students and prospective students, through 1:1 personal guidance sessions, group workshops and drop in support. You will work collaboratively with the wider team to support students and prospective students to transition to college, such as assisting with open days and events. Primary duties include: -Delivering 1:1 careers guidance meetings with students and apprentices, producing appropriate post-interview summaries of guidance and action plans. -Planning and delivering group workshops on a range of CEIAG topics, including UCAS, CVs, job applications, interview techniques, employability skills and labour market information. -Supporting with processing applications within the College UCAS Centre. -Facilitating a drop-in service within Student Services Hubs and online. -Assisting with course enquiries in person, via telephone and email. -Creating and updating relevant resources to support our wider careers programme. -Contributing to the design and organisation of careers events. -Keeping professional knowledge updated to inform good practice. This role is based on campus, with flexibility to work between Cambridge and Huntingdon campuses. What we are looking for in our role: The successful applicant will have: -An empathetic, non-judgemental approach with the ability to build rapport with people of different backgrounds and level of ability. -Strong communication skills and ability to adapt to individual needs. -An understanding of how CEIAG can support students within an FE setting, including working collaboratively to help students achieve personal and professional goals. -An understanding of how to use relevant labour market information to support individuals with career and progression planning. -Ability to use creative technologies to create resources. -Willingness to work collaboratively and adapt tasks in response to need. -Commitment to your own professional development. -A good understanding of GDPR and relevant procedures to keep information secure. -A good understanding of safeguarding and responsibilities when supporting young people and vulnerable adults. To apply, you must have: -Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance & Development. -Level 2 English and Maths qualifications (or equivalent). -Experience providing high quality, impartial CEIAG. -Experience carrying out 1:1 careers guidance sessions. -Experience developing and delivering group careers interventions. -Knowledge of post-16 and post-19 progression routes. -Familiarity with digital communication systems, e.g. Teams -Good administration skills, including the ability to use IT applications and record data accurately. -Flexibility to work between campuses and occasionally participate in ‘out of hours’ events.
