Element has an opportunity for a Business Development Director. This individual is to lead the commercial sales function across Elements Testing, Inspection and Compliance businesses within the Environmental Europe Division. Reporting to the EMEAA Sales Director and working closely with the Divisional Director and General Managers, the Business Development Director will mentor and further build the team to drive best practice and a culture of commercial excellence. The role is to support and drive accelerated growth through a number of initiatives. In addition, there is a requirement to implement the systems and processes required to support the ongoing development and professionalization of the commercial team. Ensure sales resources are aligned with Element’s Sales / Go To Market strategy Drive high quality professional services engagements across the distinct platforms within the Safety & Environmental Compliance businesses (Haz Mat, Occupational Hygiene, field based Emissions and lab teams) which have distinctly different needs from a technical and customer perspective Lead and contribute to the generation of the Sector’s strategic plans, working with other functional leads and business heads to ensure alignment with the current financial planning cycles Develop and drive divisional specific marketing initiatives Create and routinely review performance against the annual Sales Plan Seek out and support new partnership/alliance opportunities and undertake the initial business assessment for alignment with the Group, Sector and Divisional strategies/objectives; Grow Element’s market presence by identifying and exploiting new opportunities through service extensions and leveraging the capabilities of the wider Element group. Identify and propose geographical expansions through M&A or green field opportunities Prepare market assessment studies, business cases and execute plans for new business opportunities, including contributing to capital request proposals Lead the generation of effective market analysis across the division, ensuring that the right data is available in a timely manner - undertaking & co-ordinating geographical, market segment and analysis of the customer operational requirements, to develop effective market penetration strategies Provide positive leadership and representation of Element to the public, customers, vendors, and to all employees through membership in professional organizations, serving on company project teams, conducting employee meetings and visiting work areas and interacting with employees. Lead a team of Business Development Managers handling top of funnel operations, as well as end of funnel pipeline Drive proactive positive enterprise sales approach through the commercial organization Achieve rollup sales goals through effective coaching and managing of direct reports Coach sales resources to determine best course of action to advance sales opportunities Knowledge and experience of Environmental TIC and Analytical Laboratory markets Highly driven commercial personality Approximately 15 years of sales experience, of which 5-10 years must have been in a sales management position Proven track record of successfully increasing market share for an Environmental and/or laboratory Business Experience of remote management of sales team Ability to read and interpret documents such as customer quotes / contracts, marketing materials, and customer testing specifications Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and proportions Ability to solve practical customer problems Must have valid Driver’s License, with an acceptable driving record under Element’s policy Experience in interpreting testing procedures and requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Dynamics AX and CRM, Word, Excel) Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events / projects in the community, with customers and within the company Can remain calm when faced with pressure Well-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect Ability to interface with clients, win new work and determine their requirements; helps develops proposals including cost estimates, work plan and terms and conditions Ability to travel up to 75% of the time; some overnight travel may be required Benefits 33 days annual holiday, consisting of 25 days annual holiday and 8 days public X4 Life Assurance Legal & General Pension scheme with total contributions up to 12% Enhanced Company Sick Pay Free Onsite Refreshments Recommend a Friend Bonus Perks At Work Discount Scheme Car Allowance Performance bonus LI-JD2 Element is one of the fastest growing testing, inspection and certification businesses in the world.
