We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, well-motivated individual to join our department.
Working within the Financial Management Team predominately working from home, but with regular site working at Colchester or Ipswich Hospital. You will assist in the provision of management accounting information and assist with financial advice to a number of Service Areas within the Trust.
You must be educated to GCSE level or equivalent. A sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets will be necessary and experience of computerised financial systems would be desirable. In addition, the ability to work to strict deadlines and provide clear and concise financial information and advice to non-financial managers is essential.
This position is well suited to someone keen to develop their management accounting skills within an NHS environment.
This position is Fixed Term/Secondment until the 5th October 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
* As part of the Management Accounts team assist in the provision of financial support and advice to Directorates.
* Ensure that all work is completed in line with Trust deadlines.
* Investigate and analyse monthly variances.
* Assist in the formulation of annual budgets by using appropriate spreadsheets to calculate pay budgets and correctly input onto the financial system.
* Responsible for maintaining staff list data for all cost centres.
* Responsible for checking payroll data and production of code correction journals.
* Raise all accruals and prepayment journals as appropriate and then be responsible for the input of them onto the financial ledger.
* Be responsible for the raising of invoices to ensure the correct level of income is received to aid the trust cash flow position.
* Provide proactive financial and performance management advice to budget holders and managers for a defined portfolio of budgets.
* Production of monthly comparative finance and performance management statements in line with the laid down timetables and investigate variances arising there from.
* Assist with the formulation of annual budgets for a defined budget portfolio.
* Support the Management Accountant to ensure that the Trust budgets are prepared in accordance with the agreed timetable.
* Support the ongoing review of the budgetary control process.
* Present and agree all changes, within current budgets, with budget holders, and review where necessary.
* Ensure that budgets are managed in accordance with the Trust’s Standing Financial Instructions, working collaboratively with the Finance lead, taking action where necessary to prevent or address variance in performance, and to incorporate recommendations of internal and external audit.
* To support the maintenance and development of computing applications, including the financial information system.
