Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Phlebotomist/Healthcare Assistant on a temporary/bank basis with immediate start.
In this role, you will primarily take bloods but also provide essential support to patients and the nursing team.
Your primary responsibility will be to carry out venipuncture, blood pressure checks, Long Term condition health checks, preparing samples, and some admin procedures and stock control. The ideal candidate will already be experienced in the Health Care Assistant role within a GP Practice, possess strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Responsibilities - (main - but not exhaustive)
1. Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, and pulse rate, recording findings accurately.
2. Facilitate routine BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly.
3. Carry out BMI checks as directed.
4. Phlebotomy.
5. Administer flu vaccinations, B12, shingles etc. in line with Health care Assistant protocol.
6. Carry out NHS Health Checks.
7. Carry out ECGs as requested.
8. Chaperone for other clinicians.
9. Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked.
10. Ensure safe storage, rotation of vaccines within area of responsibility.
11. Ensure fridges are monitored and cleaned.
12. Ensure clinical waste is removed including sharps bins in accordance with IPC Policy.
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Healthcare Assistant may be requested to:
1. Participate in practice audit as directed by the audit lead.
2. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
3. Support and participate in shared learning within the organisation.
4. Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.
Qualifications
* Able to demonstrate good levels of literacy, numeracy, verbal and written skills.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Qualified in Phlebotomy.
* Care Certificate.
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience of working in primary care.
* NVQ Level 3 in health and social care.
Experience
* Successful team working experience.
* A positive, caring attitude to patients and colleagues.
Desirable Experience
* Experience of working within a nursing team.

Pay: £11.98 per hour
