Responsibilities:
The role will be challenging yet rewarding, working in an ever-changing environment where you can make a real difference. You will be able to demonstrate practical, holistic support and be prepared to go above and beyond for the young people you support.
You will:
1. Work closely with the Nursery Manager and existing staff members to ensure that the values and mission of the Nursery are achieved.
2. Clarify and explain instructions.
3. Motivate and encourage the pupil(s) by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance, and help with learning tasks as appropriate to pupils' needs.
4. Assist in weaker areas, e.g., speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, handwriting/presentation, etc.
5. Use praise, commentary, and assistance to encourage the pupil to concentrate and stay on task.
6. Liaise with the class teacher, Inclusion Manager, and other professionals about Education and Health Care Plans (EHCP), contributing to the planning and delivery as appropriate.
7. Provide additional nurture to individuals when requested by the class teacher or Inclusion Manager.
8. Consistently and effectively implement agreed behaviour management strategies.
9. Help to make appropriate resources to support the group.
10. Support differentiation and feedback to the class teacher.
Desired skills/qualifications:
1. Level 2 or 3 Childcare qualification
2. Early years practitioner or Nursery Assistant experience
3. Have a flexible, can-do approach
Required:
1. Ensure your CV covers the last 10 years of employment history where possible (all employment breaks must be explained).
2. Be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and full referencing process.
3. Provide professional references to cover you for at least 12 months within the last 2 years.
4. Have the legal right to work in the UK.
