The Head of the Project Management Office (PMO) at WMFTS plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of product development projects across the organisation. This position requires a strategic leader who can oversee the implementation of project management methodologies, tools, and standards, while aligning them with the company's objectives and goals.
The Head of the PMO will significantly contribute to the success and growth of WMFTS by ensuring that projects are managed efficiently and effectively. This role is pivotal in driving innovation, enhancing operational performance, and achieving strategic business objectives through robust project management practices.
Typically, there are in excess of 40 new product development projects in flight across the WMFTS project portfolio, in addition to projects related to sustaining and updating existing products (Operational Engineering projects). The Head of the PMO will also be responsible for the operational delivery of key projects and programmes, as well as providing leadership and strategic direction. WMFTS projects vary in complexity and strategic importance but are all vital to maintaining WMFTS's position as a global leader in its markets.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Strategy: Provide visionary leadership to the PMO, developing and executing strategies to optimise project management practices, including the development of a 5-year product roadmap.
2. Portfolio & Project Planning: Ensure robust planning and visibility of projects and portfolios, setting goals, defining roles, and creating schedules aligned with business needs.
3. Facilitation of Reviews: Facilitate monthly NPI Portfolio Reviews, ensuring project teams are prepared with necessary reports for stakeholder presentations.
4. Process Improvement: Manage and develop the PMO team to maintain and enhance processes supporting NPI and operational engineering activities.
5. Mentoring: Support and mentor team members to achieve their objectives through knowledge sharing and guidance.
6. Project Oversight: Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget, and quality standards.
7. Resource Management: Allocate resources efficiently across personnel, technology, and finances.
8. Stakeholder Communication: Maintain transparent and effective communication with stakeholders to meet their expectations.
9. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks to minimize impact on project delivery.
10. Performance Monitoring: Use metrics and KPIs to track progress and drive continuous improvement.
11. Training and Development: Promote ongoing professional development for project managers and team members.
Skills/Experience:
* Extensive Experience: Proven track record in project management, especially leading a PMO.
* Strong Leadership: Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
* Strategic Thinking: Ability to align project practices with organisational goals.
* Effective Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Problem Solving: Strong decision-making abilities.
* Certifications: Relevant certifications such as APM or PRINCE2 are desirable.
