The League of Friends has four shops within the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and a new position has arisen for a shift leader. The job will involve opening one of the shops at the beginning of the day and ensuring that shop is correctly stocked.
Background in retail or catering is preferred, but training will be given to the successful candidate.
Applicants must be flexible and may be expected to work evening/weekend shifts.
Minimum of 18 hours per week (3 x 6 hour shifts), however a chance to do extra hours covering other shifts (as required) is regularly available.
All shifts are within the hours of 7:30am – 7:30pm (shifts tend to be 7:30am - 1:30pm or 1:30pm - 7:30pm).
The advertised positions are to help cover shifts that have suddenly become available due to various personal circumstances over the next few months. However, should the successful candidate wish, we may offer them a permanent position after this time.
Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and manage a team of volunteers during assigned shifts.
2. Communicate effectively with team members and main office.
3. Ensure excellent customer service by assisting customers and resolving any issues.
4. Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures.
5. Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed.
6. Train new team members/volunteers on company policies and procedures.
7. Maintain a clean and organised work place.
8. Handle card and cash transactions and ensure accuracy in cash handling.
Experience:
1. Previous experience in retail management or a similar leadership role preferred.
2. Strong time management skills to effectively prioritise tasks.
3. Ability to manage and motivate others to achieve smooth running of the shop.
4. Well mannered & excellent communication skills to handle customer inquiries or complaints.
