About the Exhibitions and Displays Officer role: As Exhibitions and Displays Officer, you will manage the development and delivery of informative, engaging and visitor-focussed special exhibitions, touring exhibitions and displays (permanent galleries). You will work with multi-disciplinary internal project teams as well as external resources to ensure completion of projects to agreed objectives; and you will enjoy working to find solutions and provide expert advice in a highly paced environment. As an Exhibitions and Displays Officer at National Museums Scotland you will: Be responsible for the overall development and delivery of exhibition projects, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to budget Be responsible for managing multi-disciplinary display and gallery maintenance projects across our sites ensuring effective internal communication and a sound understanding of roles and responsibilities. Be responsible for touring National Museums Scotland’s exhibitions to national and international venues and managing relationships with host venues. Ensure all exhibitions and displays are based on creative interpretive thinking and practices, ensuring audiences engage with the national collections. Ensure effective project, financial and contractor management through applying a sound understanding of National Museums Scotland’s project and procurement methodologies. Act as an ambassador for National Museums Scotland with a range of internal and external stakeholders and partners. Skills and experience we’re looking for in our Exhibitions and Displays Officer: Demonstrable experience of managing the delivery of exhibitions or displays in a museum, heritage environment or exhibition company. An up-to-date knowledge and understanding of exhibitions and displays in the UK and beyond. Experience of working in and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
