This post would be suitable for a trainee requesting an Out of Programme Pause from training who would like to train in the care of children and young people with immunological conditions or infectious diseases. They gain experience and develop clinical skills in Paediatric Immunology & Infectious Diseases that could contribute to Paediatric Infectious Diseases SPIN competencies. The post may also be suitable for ST4-5 and if a doctor at this training grade wishes to apply, they should discuss with the point of contact below. Main duties of the job Describe What the candidate will do: The Paediatric Immunology and Infectious Disease Fellows role will include: The successful candidate would have the following responsibilities and opportunities: Conducting inpatient infectious diseases and immunology consults, then discussing management with consultant Reviewing inpatients currently on the infectious diseases and immunology books Participating in general infectious diseases clinics Participating in TB family clinics, with opportunity to attend the weekly MDT, work with the TB nurses, and see adult patients if desired Attendance at monthly paediatric HIV MDT, and fortnightly clinics. There would also be opportunity to attend the adult HIV virtual ward round and treatment meeting to leverage the experience in a larger cohort with more acute pathology. Joining PICU infection ward rounds Attending paediatric bone and joint MDT Attending weekly sit down paediatric haematology oncology ward round, with discussion of CYP with infectious concerns Attending paediatric respiratory and general paediatric X ray meeting. There would also be the opportunity to attend adult CNS infection meeting. Attendance at monthly Childrens Hospital IPC meetings, and observing trust IPC meetings. Children with recurrent infections without strong suspicion of primary immunodeficiency are also seen in the general infection clinic. Two clinical nurse specialists support the service. This post will be clinical with the immunology and infectious diseases team during daytime working with a full on-call commitment to general paediatrics.
