Opportunity to work as part of a busy team at the UK's leading modern classic yacht design and build yard in Suffolk.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Oversee all purchasing and procurement activities
2. Assist with producing bill of materials for each yacht
3. Manage the purchasing process including the buying and distribution of goods for and to correct departments
4. Identify products, services and equipment required and procure these goods and/or contracts.
5. Create all purchase orders in Lightyear ensuring correct information is input (yacht reference/department) and processing the relevant invoices through Lightyear
6. Keep relevant delivery information up to date including, schedules, ETAs and international shipping documents (imports/exports)
7. Accountable for timber allocation and sourcing FSC Certified timber and keeping accurate records.
8. Respond to enquiries from internal and external sources by providing information, direction, and/or appropriate referrals
9. Work with all stakeholders and staff to determine and identify their purchasing needs
10. Work closely with the yard manager, designers, engineers and electricians to produce performance and/or specifications for relevant POs
11. Research and evaluate suppliers and their quotations to ensure best pricing and quality
12. Recognise opportunities for cost savings and innovation
13. Work to add value in all purchases, through cost, warranties, or shipping
14. Identify and work with key suppliers who can assist in the company's ethos, particularly in environmental sustainability (to include reducing carbon footprint, packing, buying locally)
15. Maintain a high standard of purchasing files and records and ensure the availability of documentation when needed with correct costings
16. Manage the logistics within the supply chain, which often includes highly valuable goods
17. Supporting and documenting UK and overseas shipments to include customs documentation and related VAT/Tax charges
18. Work daily with suppliers from all over the UK as well as internationally
19. Closely manage relationships with key suppliers working on collaborative partnerships where possible.
20. Maintain best practice for the company's Ethical and Sustainability policies
21. Help arrange staff training such as fire drills and extinguisher training. Working on the Fire Risk assessments and procedures when required
22. Work as an integral part of a busy team
23. Assisting with collating data on SAFESCAN and handwritten timesheets, if required
24. Assisting the yard manager and operations team with yard logistics and yacht movements when required.
