Location: We are looking for an apprentice to be based in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineering Apprentice to join the Network Services Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity.
New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. Network Services are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
Within Yorkshire Water, the Network Engineering Team provide support for key operational activities on the clean water network. Providing technical plans for field operatives to carry out interventions and restoration of system supply.
Where you fit in: As a Networks Engineering Apprentice you will work to develop competence in:
* Utilise hydraulic analytical tools and a variation of calculations to assess asset performance and disruption to reduce the risk of loss of water or a reduction in water quality for customers.
* Develop the skills required to provide technical and operational advice within Network Services (Clean Water). To undertake detailed network investigations and develop both operational and capital solutions; ensuring that responses to Developer Services, Field Operations and Performance Shortfalls are comprehensive and accurate.
* Working on both commercial and domestic developments such as water treatment works, pumping stations, service reservoirs, trunk mains and distribution mains.
* Build a knowledge of and be able to apply detailed hydraulic calculations to determine the impact of proposed domestic and commercial developments on the water network.
* Work with and alongside other specialist services such as system managers and field teams to ensure any new networks are fit for purpose.
* Gain an understanding of our regulatory and company standards and our governing bodies.
* Play a role in liaising with developer services, developers, system managers and field teams to ensure that the impact of a new development is accurately quantified, assessed and solutions developed to ensure that levels of service are maintained.
* Interpret technical drawings to understand how water distribution infrastructure operates to effectively carry out appropriate interventions when required.
* Work with local Field Teams when water issues occur such as a lack of water supply or water discolouration.
* Work on new schemes to proactively improve our below ground infrastructure.
What you will need:
* To hold or be predicted 5 GCSEs or equivalent grade 4 and above/ A-C including English, Mathematics, and a Science subject.
* An ability to operate I.T. systems including Microsoft Office Packages and our own internal systems to which training will be provided.
* Problem solving and analytical skills.
* A full UK driving licence.
* A willingness to work in confined spaces.
