Active Travel England (ATE) is the governments executive agency responsible for making walking, wheeling and cycling the preferred choice for everyone to get around in England. Within the Operations directorate, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that covers HR, Finance, Communications, Programme Management Office, and Investments. We are at the heart of everything ATE does and ensuring that the Agency is successful in delivering its objectives.
You will play a leading role in shaping the next stage of development of our PMO, the tools we use to track and monitor performance, how we work with key stakeholders and our engagement with the wider Transport PMO. You will work closely with all parts of the multi-disciplinary Active Travel England, from inspectors to spatial planners, to the Executive Committee and Board. Its important that you can quickly build positive working relationships with these different stakeholders. The PMO will act as an enabler for the rest of Active Travel England.
We expect that youll already be working in a PMO function, at programme or portfolio level. Youll be adept at using different portfolio / programme / project management methods and be able to operate in both traditional and agile environments.
Responsibilities
You will:
+ Developing the final suite of PMO tools that will be used by Active Travel England, including the tracking and reporting of key performance indicators.
+ Leading on tracking, monitoring, and reporting project performance, making valuable recommendations that actively manage risks and opportunities.
+ Conduct analysis which helps the Executive Committee and Board to develop a complete and accurate picture that will inform decisions regarding the management, quality, and control of the organisation.
+ Ensuring good Governance in decision making and change control is in place and followed.
+ Supporting team with, or lead, Business Case development when necessary.
+ Supporting individual Directorates to enhance project delivery capabilities across Active Travel England, including ensuring lessons are learned through time and applied to future projects / programmes.
