Position: Highways Project Manager
Status: Full-Time
Location: Midlands
Salary: £60,000 + £6k car allowance
Life Assurance: Death in service, 2x salary
Job Purpose:
The Project Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. You will be responsible for project updates, stakeholder communication, and sometimes interacting with the public in a professional, empathetic manner.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing established sites
2. Reviewing Health & Safety paperwork
3. Identifying engineering discrepancies
4. Project planning and scheduling
5. Conducting method statements and risk assessments
6. Managing project documentation and administration
7. Tracking project performance and reporting to senior management
8. Organising resources (labour, plant, materials, sub-contractors)
9. Ensuring plant & machinery suitability for the works
10. Supervising and coaching team members, especially new starters
11. Organising training for team members to ensure skill competence
12. Closing out Health & Safety files
Qualifications/Experience:
1. HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or similar (or equivalent)
2. CSCS Gold Card (essential)
3. SSSTS or SMSTS (essential)
4. NRSWA (preferable)
5. Competence with MS Project
Person Specification:
1. Strong professional attitude and ability to work independently
2. Excellent understanding of contract documents
3. Leadership in Health & Safety
4. Time management and organisational skills
5. Strong grasp of engineering principles and Health & Safety legislation
6. Full clean driving licence

Full UK Driving License is essential. Candidates must be willing to travel, stay away from home, and work nights as needed.
