The NHS Lothian Primary Care Pharmacy and Medicines Service is undergoing an ambitious programme of transformation and integration. Pharmaceutical care is provided by a team of around 100 pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and administrators, working across General Practices covering the whole of Edinburgh.
Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including our Community Pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in Lothian.
Who you are:
You are a dynamic, highly motivated and enthusiastic, GPhC registered pharmacist.
You will already be working within a GP practice as a pharmacist or have community/hospital pharmacy background and have transferrable skills for the role. Candidates will have gained postgraduate experience working in a patient focused clinical environment, using their knowledge and skills to improve patient care and promote optimal outcomes from medicines. Candidates will have undertaken a postgraduate qualification at diploma level.
You must be innovative, with strong leadership skills to manage and support the pharmacy team in primary care. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support patient care, staff management and engagement and close working with GP Practice Teams. You should always be promoting NHS Lothian's values of quality, teamwork, care and compassion, dignity and respect, and openness, honesty and responsibility. You will have experience of involvement in the development and education of others.
The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
Candidates who have not completed a Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy must demonstrate substantial progress across the four pillars of the RPS Core Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum through:
1. Engagement with the RPS Core Advanced Curriculum
2. Active participation in a community of practice/peer network
3. Submit a screenshot of portfolio (programme of learning page)
4. Complete the RPS learning needs analysis tool to assess progress with the Core Advanced Curriculum and any gaps that will need addressed as part of PDP plans
Candidates who have completed a Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy should complete the learning needs analysis (LNA) using the LNA tool in the RPS e-portfolio, identifying any gaps that will need addressed as part of PDP plans.
