Job Title: Production Manager
Salary: £42,000 - £52,000
Location: Cambridge, Hybrid
Contract: Permanent
Are you a practiced manager looking for new opportunities? We are looking for an experienced manager to lead a technology-focused team in publishing. This could be an opportunity for a seasoned manager to develop a publishing technology background.
We are looking for a manager with proven skills in guiding a team and with a background in publishing, technology or both. You will guide a skilled and effective team with a hybrid approach to working (combining remote and in office working).
You will oversee the receipt, QA, transformation, and distribution of a wide range of academic and educational content to support book publication at CUPA. You will innovate with colleagues across the organisation to expand existing and build new workflows and products to meet new requirements.
About the role
You will oversee the technical aspects of book products from inception through post-publication maintenance, including consulting with Editorial and Production and managing the technical side of creation and conversion of content.
* Collaborating with key stakeholders to scope/define/prioritise projects.
* Oversee the delivery of files from receipt through to QA, approval, and distribution.
* Manage a team in Cambridge to ensure the smooth running of workflows.
* Oversee the operation of remote teams engaged in those workflows.
* Identify and advocate for critical innovations to maintain and increase automation in workflows to maximise productivity and throughput.
About you
You will have proven experience guiding a team as well as being a strong collaborator and relationship builder; able to communicate with stakeholders across the business. You will be organised, able to prioritise and efficiently manage changing workloads and priorities to meet the needs of the business. You will enjoy problem solving and be naturally inquisitive. You will ideally have an interest in publishing trends/emerging technologies. Having a background in standards such as html, XML, epub, ebook, or PDF would be advantageous but is not a prerequisite.
Rewards and benefits
We will support you to be at your best in work and to live well outside of it. In addition to competitive salaries, we offer a world-class, flexible rewards package, featuring family-friendly and planet-friendly benefits including:
* 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
* Private medical and Permanent Health Insurance.
* Discretionary annual bonus.
* Group personal pension scheme.
* Life assurance up to 4 x annual salary.
* Green travel schemes.
We are a hybrid working organisation, and we offer a range of flexible working options from day one. We expect most hybrid-working colleagues to spend 40-60% of their time at their dedicated office or location. We will also consider other work arrangements if you wish to work more flexibly or require adjustments due to a disability.
