Job Description
As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, you will maintain compliance with NPDES and local permit requirements to discharge wastewater.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain records and data for entire water and wastewater treatment plant.
2. Perform required calibrations of laboratory equipment.
3. Maintain required calibration logs.
4. Enter data into computer files and file paper copies of bench sheets.
5. Summarize, complete and file state and local monthly DMR reports.
Perform PADEP and Borough required laboratory testing:
1. Obtain required wastewater samples for local and state permits adhering to proper sampling protocol.
2. Liaison with wastewater testing labs for outsourced testing.
3. Use DO/Ph meter, sludge judge, microscope and other equipment to obtain daily WWTP readings and make adjustments to WWTP based on readings.
4. Ensure Starch Recovery system is operational and cleaned on a weekly basis.
5. Maintain inventory of chemicals, tools etc. that are used within the WWTP.
1. Ensure materials needed for daily use are available and operational.
2. Maintain cost control of materials to stay within budget.
3. Maintain a professional relationship with state and local agencies.
4. Observe and report conditions that affect the WWTP daily operations.
1. Inform and report conditions that could affect permit compliance to plant management.
2. Provide information and plans for corrective action for adverse conditions.
Supervise WWTP Employees:
1. Schedule work across three (3) shifts for employees.
2. Monitor and approve hours worked in payroll system.
3. Provide guidance with daily work tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
2. Valid PA Wastewater License or obtain within one year of employment.
3. 2 years Supervisory experience.
4. 2 years of Wastewater Plant Operations experience.
5. 1 year of General Laboratory Skills.
6. Strong computer skills.
