About the Role:
We are working with our client to bring families under the Afghan Resettlement and Assistance Policy to the UK. These families will initially be housed in various transit estates before being moved to settled homes in the community. Mears will secure community homes over the next 6 months, with some families moving to these homes and others to dispersed accommodation across the UK.
As a Welfare Support Officer, your main duties will include supporting service users, addressing safeguarding and welfare issues, providing practical and emotional support, monitoring wellbeing and support needs, and maintaining accurate records for audit purposes. Maintaining professional boundaries and resilience is essential to provide a consistent, needs-based service to our clients.
Role Criteria:
* Experience working with vulnerable and diverse client groups
* Understanding of safeguarding procedures
* Ability to identify individual and family support needs and support packages for independence
* Experience with mental health and challenging behaviour
* Effective communication with colleagues, local authorities, and service users
* Record keeping and risk assessment experience
* Ability to work independently
* Resilience
* Supportive, trustworthy, empathetic, approachable, and a good listener
* Full UK driving license
All roles require the entitlement to work in the UK. Mears does not offer visa sponsorship.
To drive a Mears vehicle, candidates must be over 21, have held their license for over 3 months, and have less than 9 points.
All roles are subject to DBS/Security checks prior to employment.
