The Opportunity
We are partnering with a leading global organisation to recruit a Senior Commercial Manager for an exciting and high-profile role. This is a unique opportunity to be the first commercial person in the rail sector of the business (an established area but previously without commercial support).
You will take the lead in commercial activities, supporting the delivery of cutting-edge solutions, maximising value and minimising risk while ensuring contractual excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Contract Management: Lead the negotiation, drafting, and management of complex contracts.
2. Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with both internal teams and external customers, acting as a trusted advisor for commercial matters.
3. Customer Focus: Provide strategic commercial leadership in managing relationships with a portfolio of customers.
4. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate commercial risks throughout the contract lifecycle.
5. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, and project management, to deliver successful outcomes.
Your Profile
We are seeking a driven and experienced commercial professional with:
1. A proven track record in customer-facing commercial management.
2. Exceptional negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
3. Experience working on high-value, complex contracts, with the ability to draft T&Cs independently of legal (such as warranties, indemnities, etc.).
4. Strong business acumen and the ability to influence at a senior level.
5. Experience in the manufacturing, engineering, or rail sectors would be advantageous but not essential – this is a transferable skillset.
You will need to showcase strong customer-facing commercial contracts experience throughout the process; this is not a sales or procurement role.
