As an experienced Design Draughtsperson, with excellent SolidWorks experience, you will also be responsible for all aspects of drawings and design specifications. You will collaborate with the Machines Division to build functional, secure, and well-designed products that meet client requirements.
The successful candidate will need to display the desire, drive, and determination to perform as part of a team. You will be given responsibility requiring you to organise your workload and be proactive. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exceptional experience.
Main activities & responsibilities:
1. Gather product requirements and designs
2. Set up and describe production methods step-by-step (including equipment to be used)
3. Calculate dimensions, weight limitations and requirements of materials
4. Create detailed drawings with computer-aided design (CAD) software
5. Draught 3D parts, assemblies and concept designs as necessary
6. Create Bill of materials & select suitable components for manufacture
7. Be involved in site surveys to measure plant environments where proposed machines would be located
8. Prepare and review rough sketches with the team
9. Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality
10. Ensure that drawings and documents meet company standards, as well as internal procedures and QHSE Management System requirements
11. Work to current British Standards
12. Maintain a strong Health and Safety culture
Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
1. 5+ years’ experience
2. Solid background in Mechanical Engineering
3. IT knowledge, including Microsoft 365 Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and industry-specific software
4. Computer-Aided Design SolidWorks (modelling/large assemblies/detailed drawings), understanding of AutoCAD-LT; familiarity with mechanical design
5. Excellent communication and time management skills
6. Takes pride in their work and adopts a positive attitude to work
7. Ability to work in a small, cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment
8. Passport to Safety MPQC (desirable)
