Transport Officer required for our client based in Glenfield
Team: Highways & Transportation, Transport Operations, Passenger Fleet
Location: County Hall
Reports To: Transport Manager(s)
Staff Managed: Drivers and escorts (day-to-day)
Works With: Council staff, local councils, the public, contractors, advisors, other organizations, and national/local groups.
What the Job Does:
Helps make sure passenger transport services run well, efficiently, and follow the law.
Main Things You'll Do:
1. Make sure transport services help the people of Leicestershire.
2. Work with other groups (like charities and private companies) and talk to different people (managers, staff, parents, etc.).
3. Organize vehicles and transport activities to be as efficient as possible.
4. Write simple reports when needed.
5. Help improve how the team works and plan for the future.
6. Support the team to do better and feel good about their work.
7. Help hire, train, and manage drivers and escorts.
8. Train drivers and escorts to improve services and help them develop.
9. Manage a team of drivers and escorts to make sure everything runs smoothly.
10. Make sure everyone follows safety rules for passengers and transport. Report any accidents.
11. Review how drivers and escorts are doing to help them grow in their jobs.
12. Lead meetings with drivers and escorts and write updates for them.
13. Find and share information about transport with colleagues and the public.
14. Give advice on planning the best transport routes.
15. Check transport buildings to make sure they are safe and well-maintained.
16. Check vehicles for problems and work with the vehicle maintenance team. Follow all safety rules and transport laws.
17. Prepare cost estimates for transport services for other groups.
18. Give advice on the right seats and safety equipment for vehicles.
19. Help out the Transport Manager or fill in for other team members when needed.
20. Look for new ways to earn money and manage costs.
21. Keep information safe and report any security issues.
