Financial and Tax Accountant (Hybrid/Coventry, UK)

This role will be situated in our Coventry site 3 days a week at first with significant availability to work from home. Once established, there could be an opportunity to support the whole group with acquisitions.
Statutory Reporting
* Support the production of the annual & half year reports, including making and checking proofing changes (with the Group Financial Accountant)
* Review of consolidation packs & questionnaires submitted by group businesses
* Coordination of notes to accounts preparation and review
* Preparing statutory accounts for all non-listed UK companies
* Preparation of the dormant company accounts for the UK subsidiaries
* Ownership and production of the global tax charge, including reviews of the computed charges, co-ordination of the global loss reliefs and reviews of the deferred tax recognition position
* Working with the GFC, GFA, auditors and external advisors to ensure accurate accounting for acquisitions
Group Reporting
* Preparation of UK tax charge/review of overseas businesses tax figures
* Lead the introduction and monitoring of new financial standards
* Ownership of reporting compliance with IFRS16
Tax Compliance
Ensure the Group’s compliance with the ‘Making Tax Digital’ requirements, including the operation of the short term and long term solutions to generate accurate submissions for the group VAT and other returns, including the implementation of suitable submission systems/add-ins.
* Oversight/co-ordination of the global group tax position, including:
* Review, development and progression of the global transfer pricing policies and documentation, including liaison with the Group’s tax advisers and ensuring that appropriate adjustments are made at local level, delivering global compliance with the arrangements
* Liaison with local tax advisers to ensure that the group’s local tax position is properly understood and controlled. Ensure that local tax submissions are only made once compliance with the Group’s transfer pricing and other tax policies, along with other available group reliefs
* Maintenance of the group corporation tax summary position, setting out unrelieved losses, anticipated charges, effectiveness/reasonableness of the transfer pricing policies and group recharges etc.
* Explicit responsibility to maintain the group’s tax knowledge across all aspects of UK and international taxation, through the summarisation of external tax notes and their potential impact on the group, including CT, VAT and employment taxation
* Review of year end tax submissions (tax packs) from UK businesses
* Preparation of corporation tax information and supporting analysis, including management of the R&D claim
* Review draft tax computation and liaise with Grant Thornton to finalise for Mpac Group, Mpac Lambert and Mpac Overseas Holdings
* Ensuring payments of tax are correct and paid on time
Internal Control
* Undertake internal audit visits (roles split with other Group Finance staff)
* Prepare internal audit reports for discussion with management
* Review of the Internal Control Assessment Questionnaire (“ICAQ”) in conjunction with other Group Finance staff
Technical Matters
* Keeping up to date with changes in financial reporting requirements
* Taxation changes (budget, tax opportunities)
Treasury/Banking
* Support to the GFA to deal with complex daily treasury/banking tasks (deposit & loan admin and forward currency contracts)
