The Role
Lumen is seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to join our Enterprise Billing team. In this role, you will be accountable for collaborating with team Architects to help set direction, research new technologies, develop proof of concepts, and establish standards. Our current project involves analyzing applications as part of our move to the cloud, providing innovative solutions, identifying dependencies, and implementing changes to ensure the project's success. This role requires someone who is a self-starter that can research and quickly understand an application, offering solutions, and implement them.

This is a remote position open to candidates located anywhere in the U.S.
The Main Responsibilities
1. Partner in an Agile Scrum team environment to design, develop, code, test, debug and support new software or significant enhancements to existing software.
2. Work closely with business partners and technical staff to create technical solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
3. Champion the methodology by demonstrating ownership of all aspects of the development lifecycle and inspiring ownership and accountability in others.
4. Mentor others in the business processes implemented in the team's applications to provide resolution to support problems.
5. Design, develop, maintain, and support new and existing automated test code, frameworks, and infrastructure.
6. Collaborate with product developers in a fast-moving agile team to define and implement effective and efficient automated tests.
7. Coach and mentor others in the production of all artifacts.
8. Review peers' designs and code.
9. Document work to promote transparency and reuse.
10. Understand a complex distributed system end-to-end.
11. Build unit tests, debug integration issues, and deploy emergency patches as needed.
12. Influence the work of others to drive medium & large projects to successful completion through effective collaboration, customer interaction, and IT coordination.
13. Build production-quality enterprise-grade systems that achieve target SLAs for scalability, reliability, and performance on schedule.
14. Prioritize and handle multiple concurrent projects and efforts.
15. Accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; making clear, specific commitments to deliver results.
What We Look For in a Candidate
1. 8+ years of professional experience with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
2. Working knowledge of software development methodologies, standards, and coding best practices.
3. Experience with various development languages including but not limited to: C#, Java, C++, SQL, Spark, Scala, Angular, HTML, CSS, XML.
4. Experience with various database management packages including but not limited to: MSSQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, SQLite, MongoDB.
5. Experience with data structuring tools including but not limited to: XSD, XML, JSON.
6. Experience with code versioning tools including but not limited to: TFS, Git, SVN.
7. Experience with cloud message APIs and Splunk, Restful Web Services, Swagger API.
8. Experience with Cloud Computing including but not limited to: Azure, AWS.
9. Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
10. Strong problem-solving, time management, written and verbal communication skills.
11. Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
12. Highly motivated, organized, reliable and detail oriented.
13. Capable of multi-tasking efficiently.
14. Quick learner and not afraid to work with new technology.
15. Professional attitude.
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$103,711 - $138,281 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, WY.
$108,896 - $145,195 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, RI.
$114,082 - $152,109 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, WA.
