Business is open Monday-Wednesday and Friday 9am-5pm, Thursday is a late opening to 7pm - hours of work will be around these opening hours You will need an enhanced CRB check for this role We are a small independent hearing clinic offering hearing services to help the people of Portsmouth, Southsea, Hampshire and West Sussex, so they can continue to enjoy life at its fullest. Our services include the latest in hearing aid technology, microsuction earwax removal and other audiological services. As our Business Admin Apprentice you will be the first point of contact as the Receptionist: duties will include taking bookings over the phone, responding to emails from both patients and 3rd parties and creating invoices and taking payments. Other duties within the role are: writing letters to GPs keeping an eye on stock and placing orders when needed basic hearing aids repairs (once trained) will also be required additionally in the clinic we have a podiatrist who may also need support from time to time keeping things running nice and smoothly in the clinic and generally doing other administrative tasks as and when required Business needs will often mean from time to time there will also be the opportunity to do some marketing, including social media. Equally, applications received without stating GCSE maths and English/Functional Skills/equivalent results will not be considered. What does the programme include? The apprenticeship will focus on Business Administration and includes the following knowledge criteria: Understanding the organisational purpose, activities, aims, values, vision for the future and resources Knows the organisational structure and demonstrates understanding of the benefits, knows their role in the team and recognises how their skills will help them progress Understands Laws, regulations and internal policies all related to their sector Understands relevant external factors (policy change, supply chain, national/global markets, employment) Business Fundamentals – managing change, business finances and project management. What attendance is required? Attendance at College will be required weekly, once a week. Time spent training will come under the working hours per week. Your assessor will liaise with you to set up mutually convenient times for consultation and assessment visits at your place of work. It is a Government requirement for you to spend 20% of your apprenticeship working towards your “Off the Job Learning” – off the job learning can consist of college attendance, coursework, project related work, employer training, mentoring and coaching. Le arning and assessment Apprentices build a portfolio of work and work place assessors will be in regular contact to provide support, and to arrange on-site visits to observe the apprentices’ ability and skills in their daily role. It is important for the apprentice to take ownership of their own learning by seeking out opportunities to gain new skills on the job with the employer. It is a Government requirement for you to spend a minimum of six hours a week off-the-job – off the job can consist of college attendance, coursework, project related work, employer training, mentoring and coaching. The apprentice’s final grade will be determined by collective performance in the three assessments in the endpoint assessment. To achieve a pass or distinction the apprentice will need to score 60%-79% (pass), 80% (Distinction). The three assessments are: Online Knowledge Based 50 multiple choice questions - 60 minutes (33.3%) Portfolio Based Interview – 30-45 minutes (33.3%) Project Improvement Presentation 20-30 minutes (33.3%) Future prospects For the right candidate the position will continue long-term. There may also be the opportunity to get more involved in the clinical side of things. We are a small but growing business and there is the potential for the role to grow too.
