Hays are delighted to be working in collaboration with a well-regarded and dynamic Fit-Out contractor in their search for a Design Technician to join their flourishing team. Having carved a top-tier industry name for themselves on the back of providing expert delivery on complex and varied projects for over 20 years - they place significant importance on the retention and development of staff. The creation of this position is the direct result of sustained performance and growth, with pipeline works ongoing across Retail, Heritage and Specialist Joinery divisions. Your new role
As part of a tight-knit team of 3 designers, you'll report directly to the Head of Design and help tackle the following list of duties / functions:
1. Create high-quality detailed technical drawings and plans based on designs supplied by external parties.
2. Use a variety of CAD software, including AutoCAD & Solidworks.
3. Liaise with Architects & designers to understand their design requirements and provide technical advice to Manufacturing and Construction Technicians.
4. Provide accurate, detailed and to-scale drawings, ensuring these are compliant with industry and health & safety standards / protocols.
5. Present working drawings for use in all stages of the project, tender, manufacture / construction and installations.
6. Produce installation & manufacturing documentation.
7. Maintain accurate records.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this exciting job, you must have a Design / AutoCAD related degree / City & Guilds certificate, and ideally 3+ years experience of working within a busy design office / team. You should be comfortable working to tight deadlines and multi-tasking, and be competent in understanding, solving and presenting solutions in relation to engineering / CAD related challenges. You will have sound knowledge of joinery / engineering principles and have the ability to both read and create technical drawings. An underlying essential skill for this position is IT skills and proficiency across software such as AutoCAD / Solidworks. To quickly hit the ground running within the Fit-Out industry, you should have a keen eye for detail and be genuinely excited about the prospect of working on high-end, complex design works and eventual joinery projects. Working in conjunction with the company's in-house workshop - you'll be a vital part of the client's journey towards delivery, and have an important part to play in ensuring the company's industry name is upheld.
